One of the images the Tánaiste posted of himself and his brother on social media at the weekend.

As Cork’s LGBT+ community was celebrating Pride week, Tánaiste Simon Harris was best man on Saturday, when his brother Adam tied the knot with his long-term fiancé Daniel O’Driscoll.

Celebrations were at the five-star Fota Island resort on the outskirts of Cork.

Mr Harris was returning the favour. Adam had been his best man when he had married Caoimhe Wade in 2017.

Ever an avid user of social media platforms, the Tánaiste shared photographs of himself and his brother in their tuxedos, as well as pictures of his own children, Saoirse and Killian, as the family celebrated. “To Adam, my buddy, the best brother, uncle, and friend anyone could ask for, wishing you and Daniel a lifetime of happiness on this, your wedding day. Proud of you always,” wrote Mr Harris.

Yesterday, Mr Harris posted a picture of a sunny pontoon in Cobh with the words:

“We live in a truly beautiful country. Lovely to visit wonderful Cobh today.”

The Tánaiste’s brother is the founder and chief executive of AsIam, an Irish autism charity, and is also a member of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission. Daniel O’Driscoll is a teacher and assistant principal in Dublin.
