Garinish Island will come alive with The Island Drift, now in its third year and taking place over the weekend of September 5, 6, and 7.

The festival offers literature, music, culture, and heritage with a full programme of free cultural walking tours featuring renowned writers, poets, musicians, and cultural creatives including author Kevin Barry, poet Victoria Kennefick and ornithologist Sean Ronayne.

Highlights include three evening concerts: Susan O’Neill on Friday, The Blindboy Podcast live on Saturday, and acclaimed songwriter Declan O’Rourke on Sunday. While daytime events are free, tickets for the evening concerts are available at Eventbrite.ie.

Managed by the Office of Public Works, the 37-acre island offers a unique stage for this cultural celebration, produced by Cork-based creative company The Good Room. All afternoon events are free to attend once on the island. Visitors must purchase ferry tickets from Harbour Queen Ferries at The Pier in Glengarriff or the Blue Pool Ferry in the village.
