Last year’s completions bring the number of Clúid homes in management in Cork to 1,555, as of December 31.

Approved housing body Clúid delivered more than 160 new social and cost rental homes in Cork last year.

The 162 homes delivered in Cork by the agency in 2024 represent around 10% of the 1,525 new social and cost rental homes delivered nationwide.

Clúid said 2024 was its most successful year in terms of delivering new homes in its 30-year history. The organisation, which was established in 1994, delivered 853 general needs social homes, 408 cost rental homes, and 264 age-friendly social homes across 10 local authority areas.

Last year’s completions bring the number of Clúid homes in management in Cork to 1,555, as of December 31.

During 2024, 3,795 people were taken out of housing need with a new or re-let Clúid home.

As of July 1, 2025, Clúid manages more than 13,000 homes across every county in Ireland, with nearly 33,000 residents. It is on track to deliver over 1,000 homes this year, it says.

Biggest year

“2024 was our biggest year for delivery yet,” said Clúid CEO Brian O’Gorman.

“As a result of the hard work and dedication of the Clúid colleagues, and our partners, 3,795 adults and children now have a secure place to call home. We also grew our construction programme in 2024. We continue to work closely with our developer, contractor, and construction partners.

"We’re on track to deliver more than 1,000 homes in 2025, many of them through our construction programme. We’re proud to be able to use this wealth of expertise and experience to contribute to addressing the current housing crisis.

“We look forward to the next 30 years, and our continued position as a key partner in delivering and managing social and affordable homes and communities.”

Shock

Cork woman Mary, who moved into a new home at Green Lane in Blackpool, said that her home, provided by Clúid, changed her life.

“When I got the phone call from Clúid saying I’d been nominated for a home in Green Lane, I was in shock,” said Mary.

“I just stood there on the street. It wasn’t until I had the keys in my hand that I really believed it. Having my own space has really changed my life. Before, I was really stressed, as I was sharing with other people and I didn’t have security in where I was living. I had problems with my blood pressure; since getting my forever home, my health has improved. I’m so much happier now.”
