Cork’s multi-award-winning Velo Coffee Roasters has once again impressed the judges at the prestigious Great Taste Awards, securing a two-star accolade for its Finca Las Mercedes Coffee Capsules (El Salvador) and a one-star award for its Cerrado Mineiro Coffee Bag (Brazil)
Judges praised Finca Las Mercedes for its “bright aroma, rich with a note of acidity” and described it as having “a smooth start that builds to a lively and satisfying flavour”, also highlighting its balance and versatility.
Meanwhile, judges admired Cerrado Mineiro’s “lovely looking beans” and “sweet, perfumed nose”.
The coffee was recognised as a strong representation of Brazilian coffee with “lots of chocolate and nut” notes, making it “a good example that stands up very well to milk”.
Rob Horgan, owner of Velo Coffee Roasters, said: “These awards are a testament to the passion and precision our team pours into every roast. We’re proud to showcase the diversity of origin and flavour in our coffees, and thrilled to be recognised once again by the Great Taste Awards.”
