The incident occurred between Ballinhassig and Innishannon on the N71 at approximately 7.15am

A teenager has died following a two-vehicle collision in Cork county this morning.

The incident, involving a car and a truck, occurred between Ballinhassig and Innishannon on the N71 at approximately 7.15am.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene, where a man, aged in his late teens, was pronounced dead.

The road remains closed at this time to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area by taking alternative routes.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 7am and 7.30am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision in Cork.

The incident occurred between Ballinhassig and Innishannon on the N71 at approximately 7.15am.

As a result of the collision, the road has been closed with local diversions in place.
