Gardaí and Kerry Mountain Rescue were called to the scene and the rescue operation was co-ordinated by the Coast Guard’s Marine Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Valentia who tasked the Shannon based Rescue 115 helicopter to the scene.

A teenager, understood to be from North Cork, was killed following a fall from a height while climbing near the Conor Pass near Dingle in the Corca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht on Tuesday afternoon.

The boy, aged 16, was understood to be on holidays with his parents in the area and is believed to have gone climbing to a lake known as Loch an Pheidléara (Lough Doon) and fell from a height. 

The incident is believed to have occurred at 3.30pm in the afternoon.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said that gardaí and emergency services “attended a sudden death incident involving a male juvenile in An Chonair/Conor Pass, Co Kerry yesterday afternoon, Tuesday July 1 2025”.

“A postmortem examination will take place in due course and a file prepared for the office of the Coroner,” the spokesperson added.
