A survey has been launched by Cork City Council inviting the public to have a say on how the local authority should progress over the coming years as it works to develop and improve the city.

The responses to the survey will be analysed and will feed into the council’s corporate plan, which will set the terms for workplans and priorities of council staff up to 2029.

According to Cork City Council chief executive, Valerie O’Sullivan, the plan acts as “a roadmap for the decisions and the actions that will be set in place to achieve our long-term ambitions for our city."

Vision

The plan will set out the council’s vision for the next five years and highlight key objectives, including social inclusion, sustainable and economic development, transport, delivery of housing, community and neighbourhood engagement, environment and climate issues, amongst others.

“We want to build on what we have already achieved for the city and we would like to hear from you,” said Ms O’Sullivan.

“This survey seeks to reflect your experience of the city; where people like to go; what people like to do and some of the things you would like to see happen.

Ms O’Sullivan said they were looking for “your broad experience of what it is to live in Cork”.

Combination

The survey and the responses will be used in combination with other questionnaires on the social and economic development of the city to shape the plan.

The council has said that while quotes from comments made in response to the survey may be used in the document, they wouldn’t be attributed to any individual.

All personal details that are gathered in the survey would only be used for classification purposes.

The survey itself is completely anonymous.
