A man accused of throwing away €5,000 worth of heroin to avoid detection has been served with a book of evidence.
53-year-old Mark Corcoran of flat 3, Ivy House, Grattan Hill, Cork, was before Cork District Court charged with possession of drugs, having them for sale or supply and obstruction of a search.
It is alleged that on June 18, 2024, Mr Corcoran was stopped at Lower Grattan Hill and on being informed a search was about to be carried out he ran and threw bags away.
The bags were recovered and they contained €5,000 worth of heroin.
Sergeant Gearóid Davis said a book of evidence was served on Mr Corcoran and applied to have the case sent forward to Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
