A 41-year-old man ripped a cash register from the counter of the Bodega pub on Cornmarket St in Cork, it was alleged in Cork District Court.
Gavin Miller of Peacock Row, North Monastery Rd, Cork, faced a burglary charge in relation to the matter.
Judge Brian O’Shea refused jurisdiction and Mr Miller was remanded in custody until April 29 for the accused man to bring an application for bail in the case.
The alleged incident on Thursday, April 17, was reported through alarm activation.
Gardaí arrived and observed the till ripped out of the counter and the front door was ajar.
No damage was caused to the door or counter.
Sergeant Brian O’Shea said: “CCTV was viewed and downloaded. A man was observed breaking and entering the premises and stealing the till and exiting the premises.
“The suspect was arrested at 5.35am by Garda Cathal McCarthy. Property was recovered on North Main St but it was damaged.”
Solicitor Aoife Buttimer said the accused was before a special sitting of Cork District Court the following day and no application was made for bail. Ms Buttimer said she was now putting the State on notice of the defendant’s intention to apply for bail on April 29.
Judge O’Shea remanded him in custody until that date.
