A special event was hosted this month at Sunbeam Veterinary Hospital’s Northpoint Business Park facility, attended by several distinguished members of the veterinary community.

The event, held on April 9, showcased the hospital’s state-of-the-art facilities and commitment to providing exceptional care for pets across Cork.

Attended by vets and nurses from local clinics, visitors had the opportunity to tour the hospital, meet with the team, and learn about the advanced services and specialties offered, including hydrotherapy, advanced diagnostic imaging with a new CT scanner, and digital X-ray machine.

The hospital is a leading referral centre, and the evening also featured insightful presentations and networking opportunities, with the aim of fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among veterinary professionals.

The clinical director at Sunbeam Veterinary Hospital, Tom Conway, highlighted the hospital’s services and what he said sets them apart from other, similar clinics across the county.

“We offer 24/7 care with a vet and nurse onsite at all times, which is unique in Cork,” said Mr Conway.

“Our experienced, motivated team is continuously learning and developing to stay abreast of medical and surgical advances within the veterinary profession, ensuring we provide the best care for our clients and their pets.”

Sunbeam Veterinary Hospital has been part of Cork’s veterinary care landscape for the past 20 years, with five sites across Cork city, including four branch practices and a referral hospital.

The event focused on highlighting the significant recent investments in cutting-edge diagnostic tools and equipment, which are now available to the team at the hospital to aid in the provision of care for pets and animals.

The facility boasts separate cat- and dog-waiting areas, seven consultation rooms, three surgical theatres, and a hydrotherapy suite, as well as separate dog and cat wards, with the hospital staffed 24/7 and available for bookings six days a week.

The team at the hospital consists of experienced vets and vet nurses, as well as multi-certificate holders who run referral services across various disciplines.

These include specialised treatments, such as orthopaedics and soft-tissue surgery, neurology (including advanced imaging), oncology, endoscopy, laparoscopy, hydrotherapy and exotics.

The team is also trained in providing vaccinations, neutering, weight management, repeat prescriptions, acupuncture, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, pet dental care and euthanasia.

Clinical director at Sunbeam Veterinary Hospital, Ruth O’Flaherty, said the team is “privileged” to provide care for the pets and animals of Cork.

“We are here to diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate pets, ensuring they are looked after for life,” said Ms O’Flaherty.

“We are privileged to be entrusted with the care of our client’s pets, as well as those referred to us for more advanced care by our colleagues in other vet clinics, and treat them all like our own.”
