Cork City Fire Brigade has paid tribute to crew members for their “professionalism and compassion on every rescue - whether it’s two legs or four” after personnel successfully rescued a dog from the River Lee.

Yesterday evening, crews were called to the River Lee following reports of a dog in distress.

Once on scene, Cork City Fire Brigade personnel launched a water rescue, successfully lifting the dog back to shore.

Following the successful rescue mission, Cork City Fire Brigade paid tribute to all involved in a post on social media, reporting that the dog is fortunately “safe and sound”.

“With quick action and teamwork, our firefighters launched a water rescue — and we’re delighted to say the four-legged swimmer ‘Bán’ is now safe and sound!

“Huge thanks to the alert bystanders who raised the alarm, and hats off to our crew for their professionalism and compassion on every rescue — whether it’s two legs or four,” the brigade said.
