A Cork man, who won €1 million in a National Lottery draw last month, collected his cheque from the lottery HQ in Dublin this week.

The man, who purchased his ticket from Healy’s SuperValu in Dunmanway, matched all of his numbers in the 9pm Daily Million draw on March 29.

Speaking about his win, the man said that it was a “shock to the system” when he realised he had won big for the first time after many years of entries.

“I’ve been playing my own personal numbers for well over 20 years,” he said.

“There’s been a few small wins here and there, but I still can’t believe I hit the jackpot – I had a feeling it would happen someday.

“When I buy my tickets, I hold them until Sunday morning to check alongside my morning cup of tea,” he added.

“I was really taken back - it was a real shock to the system.”

When asked about his plans for the future following his win, the man’s partner said they are hoping for a chance to “finally” go on a honeymoon after several years of marriage.

Players across Cork who are dreaming of becoming the next jackpot winner are being reminded that tickets for tonight's draw, which boasts winnings of up to €3.5 million, can be purchased in-store, through the National Lottery app or at http://www.lottery.ie ahead of the 7.45pm cut off.
