Prayers in Cork community after boy, 5, injured in incident on farm

County councillors in the Carrigaline district have told
that their thoughts and prayers are with the boy and his family. FILE PICA five-year-old boy who was injured by a cow following an incident on a farm at Minane Bridge in Cork currently remains seriously ill in hospital.
The boy was taken to Cork University Hospital (CUH) following the incident on Sunday evening.
He was assessed at CUH and it is understood then was transferred to a Dublin hospital for treatment.
County councillors in the Carrigaline district have told
that their thoughts and prayers are with the boy and his family.Fine Gael Cork county councillor Jack White, who also knows the family, said the incident has shocked the local community and area.
“As a community, we are all entirely shocked and distraught with the news of this farm accident. We are all keeping the family in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time. Our agricultural community in Tracton, Carrigaline and Crosshaven is tight knit, and there is a collective sense of disbelief.
“I want to pay tribute to the medical staff both in Cork and Dublin who are caring for the boy and those who are supporting the family.”
Mr White added: “There will be a prayer service in the Church of Ireland Church, Crosshaven tomorrow (Wednesday) evening for the family and I know the community will turn out in numbers to show their support to the family.”
Sinn Féin Cork county councillor Eoghan Fahy said he is praying for the family.
Fianna Fáil county councillor Patrick Donovan said: "Everyone is in shock with this news. The whole community is thinking and praying for the little boy and his entire family. We all hope he makes a full recovery."
Party colleague and county councillor Audrey Buckley praised the emergency services who attended the scene and the medical staff caring for the boy.
“My thoughts are with the young boy and his family during this incredibly difficult time. This is a deeply upsetting incident that has shocked the local community. I know everyone in Minane Bridge is holding the family in their hearts and hoping for his full recovery. We are grateful to the emergency services and medical staff at Cork University Hospital for their continued care and support.”
