Cork City Council launches affordable housing scheme at Lehenaghmore

Cork City Council have launched an affordable housing scheme at Glenmore Heights, Lehenaghmore, which is the second housing scheme of its kind in the south west of the city.

Being built in partnership with OBR Developments Ltd, the 45 affordable homes are made up of 24 three-bed semi-detached homes, 11 three-bed mid-terrace homes, two two-bed end-of-terrace homes and eight two-bed mid-terrace homes.

The affordable homes are on sale from approximately 20% below open market value for those who qualify for the affordable housing scheme. For eligible applicants, mid-terrace three-bedroom homes will be available from €310,000 and mid-terrace two-bedroom homes from €280,000.

The Lord Mayor of Cork Councillor Dan Boyle said: “As a local authority, we are committed to delivering high quality affordable homes for the people of Cork.

"This new scheme, the eighth scheme to launch under the affordable housing initiative, demonstrates the ongoing work that Cork City Council is doing to deliver housing for the people of Cork. I want to thank both OBR Developments Ltd and the housing directorate for their work in delivering this much anticipated project."

Brian Geaney, assistant chief executive of Cork City Council, said that increasing the supply of housing is one of the main priorities of Cork City Council.

“The Glenmore Heights, Lehenaghmore affordable housing scheme is the eighth such development in recent times and brings to 356 the number of homes offered for sale by Cork City Council under the local authority affordable purchase scheme to date.

“Cork City Council will continue to develop and release further affordable housing schemes this year and we are well on track to exceed our ‘Housing for All’ 2022-2026 affordable housing target.” 

Applications can be made between 12 noon on Tuesday April 15 and 12 midnight on Tuesday May 6 via an online application portal which is available on www.glenmoreheights.ie .

Applicants are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the documentation required to apply for the homes at Glenmore Heights, as interest is expected to exceed the number of houses available for purchase.
