This summer’s Cork City Marathon has sold out for the full marathon, half marathon, and 10K.

Additional applicants were invited to a waiting list recently, with returned registrations distributed by lottery. No further places for the June 1 event will become available.

Cork City Council are now placing a major spotlight on charity fundraising for this year to surpass previous records under the new campaign tagline, ‘Your Race, Their Hope.’

Building on the €200,000 raised for 58 charity partners in 2024, this year’s goal is to raise €250,000.

Platform

“The Cork City Marathon is about more than just running; it’s an incredible platform for raising funds and awareness for charities,” the race director, Eamon Hayes, said.

“This year, our ambition is to set new fundraising records, [and] we’re working closely with our ticket provider, Eventmaster, to streamline the process [to] make it as easy as possible for participants to fundraise.”

Lord Mayor of Cork Dan Boyle said: “The Cork City Marathon is a true celebration of community spirit. It not only encourages thousands to get active, but also creates a festival-like atmosphere across the city. From the runners and their supporters to the local businesses that benefit from the influx of visitors, it’s a positive force for all.”

Valerie O’Sullivan, Cork City Council chief executive, said: “Forty years on from the first Cork Marathon, it’s great to see how much the event continues to grow.

"We are incredibly grateful to the communities along the route who come out to support the runners with fruit, sweets, water, and cheers — it’s what makes the day truly special.”

Spectators can also look forward to live music from the Cork School of Music, family-friendly activities organised by Let’s Play Cork, and a vibrant festival atmosphere.
