Popular North Cork bar and restaurant to close down at the end of April 

A popular North Cork bar and restaurant has announced it is to close its doors at the end of next month. 

The Hunters Rest on the Main Street in Mitchelstown has been licensed for three generations by the O'Connor/Mullally family, and over the years has built up a reputation for producing high quality cuisine. 

In a statement issued through social media on Saturday afternoon Robert Mullally confirmed that the premises will close on Wednesday, April 30. 

In the meantime the business will continue to trade as normal. 

"After many years of a career in Hospitality, I am today announcing my decision to retire," wrote Mr Mullally. 

“To every customer that has bought a dinner, a pint or even a bar of chocolate from me, I sincerely thank you and it has been a pleasure to serve you."

Mr Mullally thanked his parents, siblings and extended family for all their support over the years. 

“To the staff that who have worked with me both at present and in the past, my heartfelt thanks. I sincerely wish you the best for now and in your future careers," he wrote.

“To the local and regional food, beverage and drink suppliers who have worked alongside me, some of you for many years, it has been a fantastic business to business experience and my pleasure to work with, cook and showcase your products," continued Mr Mullally. 

“It has been a remarkable experience for me to work both at home and abroad as a chef in what is forever an industry that evolves. I have thoroughly enjoyed this career journey, the opportunities and the challenges in brought, the products I got the privilege of working with but most importantly the people I have met along the way.

“It is however for me now time and I look forward to the next chapter of my life with Jack and Eileen.”
