Sentencing of a 23-year-old motorist for endangering life by driving at speed on the wrong side of the road at Burnfoot in Mallow was adjourned on Friday until May 9.
Ceilim Ryan of Scurragh, Birr, County Offaly, faced sentencing at Cork Circuit Criminal Court where he pleaded guilty to a number of charges the first of which was a count of endangerment.
That charge stated that on October 12 2022 at Burnfoot, Mallow, County Cork, he drove on the incorrect side of the road into the path of oncoming traffic at speed, thereby creating a risk of death or serious injury.
The young man also pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Annabella, Mallow, County Cork, on the same date.
Finally, he admitted that at Mourneabbey, County Cork, he resisted Garda Liam Glendon in the course of his duty.
Defence senior counsel Jane Hyland said that reports that had been directed were not yet available and she applied to have sentencing adjourned.
Judge Helen Boyle adjourned sentencing of Ceilim Ryan until May 9 at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
