A status yellow wind and rain warning has been issued for Cork and 11 other counties. 

The warning, issued today by Met Éireann, comes into effect at 2am on Sunday and is set to remain in place until 3pm Sunday.

People have been advised to expect "very strong and gusty southerly winds together with spells of heavy rain".

Possible impacts could include difficult travel conditions, localised flooding, fallen trees and loose debris along with poor visibility.

The warning has been issued for Cork along with counties Clare, Kerry, Limerick, Waterford, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Wexford and Wicklow.
