The late Michael O'Sullivan.
Gardaí in Cork have shared a traffic management plan for the Mallow area this afternoon, with the wake for Cork jockey Michael O’Sullivan expected to draw large crowds.
The 24-year-old from Lombardstown, North Cork, passed away in the Cork University Hospital at the weekend, having been airlifted to the hospital from Thurles Racecourse after a fall during a race on February 6.
Mr O'Sullivan will repose at Currabower, Lombardstown, Mallow (P51 HH93) this afternoon from 2pm to 7pm, followed by prayers.
There will be a reception into St John the Baptist Church, Glantane tomorrow morning for Requiem Mass at 12 noon, after which Mr O'Sullivan will be laid to rest in St John's Cemetery, Glantane, Mallow.
Gardaí advised: “All funeral traffic attending the wake at Currabower, Lombardstown is to travel via the N72 Mallow-Killarney Road.
“A one way system will be in place from Lombardstown village to Gortroe and on to the O'Sullivan home. Stewards and gardaí will be at locations along the route to assist with traffic.
“Traffic delays are expected in the area and motorists are asked to follow the directions of gardaí and stewards along the route.”
