Emergency services and gardaí attended the scene of the incident at around 2.10pm on Mount Agnes Road in Churchfield.

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances behind a hit-and-run road traffic collision that occurred on Wednesday afternoon on the northside of Cork city.

Emergency services and gardaí attended the scene of the incident at around 2.10pm on Mount Agnes Road in Churchfield, close to the Lidl store. 

A garda spokesperson said the collision involved two vehicles.

"The driver of one vehicle failed to remain at the scene," said the spokesperson.

"The female driver of the second vehicle, aged in her 50s, was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of what are understood to be non-life threatening injuries," they added.

Mount Ages Road was closed to traffic for a period of time and was reopened on Wednesday evening. 

"Investigations are ongoing," said the garda spokesperson.
