Emergency services were called to Carrigaline, Ballincollig and Mayfield last night as a home and cars were set on fire.

No injuries have been reported and the fires were all extinguished by Cork City Fire Brigade, with gardaí now looking into the incidents of criminal damage.

The first incident occurred at a home in Carrigaline last night at around 11.30pm.

A Garda spokesperson told The Echo: “Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage by fire at a domestic residence in Carrigaline Co. Cork yesterday evening, Thursday 6th February 2025. 

"No injuries have been reported and investigations are ongoing.” 

Later, in the early hours of this morning, in a separate incident, a car was set alight in Ballincollig.

The Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage by fire of a car at a domestic residence in Ballincollig Co. Cork this morning, Friday 7th February 2025. 

"The fire was extinguished by fire services. Enquiries are ongoing.” 

Another car was also found alight, in a third incident, by emergency services in Mayfield, with gardaí telling The Echo: “Gardaí attended at a car fire in Mayfield, Co. Cork, this morning, Friday 7th February 2025. The fire was extinguished by fire services.”
