Consultation deadline extended on policing plan for Cork county

Sinn Féin TD for Cork North Central, Thomas Gould, has welcomed news that the deadline for submissions to the consultation on the draft Cork county policing plan 2025 has been extended to this evening.

Sinn Féin TD for Cork North Central, Thomas Gould, has welcomed news that the deadline for submissions to the consultation on the draft Cork county policing plan 2025 has been extended to this evening.

The policing plan will prioritise and progress actions across five strategic pillars.

The consultation is by means of a short survey, where members of the public are invited to make submissions based on their safety concerns and areas which they would like to see prioritised by An Garda Síochána and chief superintendent Vincent O’Sullivan for this year.

“Before Christmas, I wrote to the chief superintendent requesting this extension,” said Mr Gould.

“This is because many community groups and residents associations will want to engage collaboratively with the consultation but wouldn’t be meeting over the Christmas period.

“I think this extension was particularly important given the recent cold snap that could have further prevented these groups coming together.”

In a notice sent to Mr Gould, a garda spokesperson said: “I am mindful that the time frame for completion coincided with the Christmas holiday period and that a number of key contributors may not have been able to access.

“The closing date for submissions has been extended to 5pm on Monday, January 13, 2025, to allow for this."
