Update 3.35pm: Gardaí in Cork have charged the remaining two men arrested in a search operation that took place this morning. 

Five individuals have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into violent disorder incidents and related criminal activities that occurred in Cork city on Monday. 

All of the five arrested men have now been charged and are scheduled to appear before Cork District Court this afternoon.

Update: Gardaí in Cork have charged an additional two of the five men arrested in a search operation that took place this morning.

They are scheduled to appear before Cork District Court this afternoon. 

The search operation took place as part of an ongoing investigation into violent disorder incidents and related criminal activities that occurred in Cork city on Monday. 

Earlier: Five individuals have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into violent disorder incidents and related criminal activities that occurred in Cork city on January 6.

Gardaí conducted a search and arrest operation this morning, during which the five individuals - males ranging from late teens to early twenties - were arrested.

They have been taken to to garda stations in the Southern region.

One male has since been charged and is due to appear in Cork District Court this afternoon.

The operation this morning involved gardaí from the Cork City Division assisted by the Armed Support Unit.

They conducted searches at four residential properties in Cork over the course of the operation. 

A large quantity of weapons was recovered during the searches.

A spokesperson from An Gard Síochána said: "Investigation is ongoing and further updates will follow."
