Four young musicians from Macroom will take to the stage on one of Ireland’s most cherished television events, The Late Late Toy Show.
Representing the Cork ETB School of Music, Leila Foley, Conan Clery, and Sophia Corkery, from Terelton NS, along with Áine Lucey, from St Mary’s Macroom, make up The Chocolate Swappers String Quartet.
Sophia’s mother, Therese Corkery, told The Echo: “They are all super-excited, and working very hard.”
The group sent a two-minute recording of themselves playing a Christmas song and a non-Christmas song at the end of September, and heard earlier this month that they would be a part of the Toy Show.
Ms Corkery said: “They’ve been up in Dublin the last two weekends, practising, and they’ll be up again this Sunday, then up Wednesday next week, and staying in Dublin for three nights,” ahead of the show on Friday, December 6.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them; everybody will be tuning in at home to watch,” she added.
