Folk sensations The Mary Wallopers have been added to next year’s Live at the Marquee lineup, with tickets going on sale this Friday.

Aiken Promotions has announced the band will to take to the Marquee stage on Friday, July 18, one of only three concerts they will play in Ireland next summer.

The Mary Wallopers were formed in Dundalk in 2019 by brothers Charles and Andrew Hendy and their friend Sean McKenna.

They began traveling the length and breadth of Ireland, singing and collecting songs, before expanding to a blistering six-piece that has torn up the live circuit over the past three years.

Hailed as “The punk spirit of Irish traditional music" by” Mojo, they have been described by Uncut as “A raucous power... not seen since the heyday of The Pogues”.

Tickets for July 18 Live at the Marquee Cork gig will go on sale this Friday, November 22, at 9am from Ticketmaster.ie.

Other acts already lined up for next year’s Live at the Marquee series include Snow Patrol, Amble, Christy Moore, The Coronas, Olly Murs, Tommy Tiernan, Dec Pierce, Picture This, The Waterboys and Joe Bonamassa playing Rory Gallagher.
