Midleton RFC will host a fundraising Lunch with Leaders in Rugby event with guest speakers in December.

Assistant All Blacks coach and former Munster Rugby and Midleton player Jason Holland, Ireland Women’s U20 head coach and former Ireland Women’s captain Niamh Briggs, two-time Olympian and Ireland Rugby Sevens captain Harry McNulty, and former Ireland Rugby player and Munster captain Mick Galwey will speak at the event at Fota Island Resort on December 12.

Training space

Funds raised through the event will support Midleton RFC’s development initiatives, in particular the construction of a 4G pitch which will provide a reliable training space for Midleton RFC’s young players from U6 to U18, and men’s and women’s teams.

The club’s senior team currently plays in Division 2C of the All-Ireland League and remains the only senior rugby club in Cork county.

“I’m really looking forward to coming back to East Cork and supporting Midleton RFC’s amazing developments in the club,” said Mr Holland, who spent a number of years playing with and coaching Midleton from the late 1990s to early 2000s.

“I’ll be joined on stage on December 12 by Mick Galwey, Niamh Briggs, and Harry McNulty, all of whom have awesome experiences to share, and no doubt there will be some great stories thrown in the mix.”

Community

Midleton RFC president Christy Lordan described the event as “a tremendous opportunity for our community to come together in support of Midleton RFC’s future”.

“The funds raised will be pivotal in creating a first-rate training facility for our young players, ensuring they have the resources they need year-round to thrive in the game,” he said.

Tickets for the event are priced at €1,500 per table of 10 or €150 each. The ticket price includes a two-course lunch with wine and tea/coffee on arrival. For more, visit https://midletonrugby.com.
