The well-known West Cork foodie spot received a number of mystery visits and assessments from Good Food Ireland inspectors and was shortlisted by an independent panel of Irish and international industry leaders.

The judges praised The Lifeboat Inn for its inclusion of local Irish produce, with consideration for traditional or speciality Irish dishes, supplemented by home-baked bread, cakes and desserts.

Taking to social media, the owners Mr Buckley and Mr O’Halloran said they were “over the moon” with the recognition.

“A huge thank you to all our suppliers, staff and customers over the years who play a vital part in making The Lifeboat Inn what it is.”
