'City Til I Die…Laughing': Cork City FC to host comedy night

Cork comedian Andrew Ryan will join Chris Kent, Emma Doran, Shane Todd and John Colleary next month for the ‘City ‘Til I Die…Laughing’ event hosted by Cork City FC at the Everyman Theatre.

A Cork soccer club will host some of the country’s top comedians next month.

Cork City FC (CCFC) will be hosting the ‘City Til I Die…Laughing’ event at the Everyman Theatre on October 31.

The lineup includes Cork natives Andrew Ryan and Chris Kent, Dubliner Emma Doran, Belfast’s Shane Todd, and Sligo’s John Colleary.

Proceeds from ticket sales will going towards the club’s women’s and academy teams.

The club has four academy boys’ teams and two girls’ teams, which compete in the League of Ireland Academy leagues.

The six squads include players from all over Munster, who show great commitment in travelling for training and matches every week.

The academy wants to give every player the opportunity to achieve their potential, whether that is playing at national level with the club, internationally for their country, or beyond.

The academy also invests time and effort in building resilience within each of the players and supporting their mental health and wellbeing.

Mr Ryan, who has a nephew enrolled with the CCFC academy, said: “I’ve always been a supporter of Cork City FC and you can’t beat a night at the Cross.

“The academy plays such an important role in developing young players in to future soccer stars and I see how much it means to teenagers like my own nephew, Louie.

“I’m delighted to share the stage with the likes of Chris Kent and Emma Doran for ‘City Til I Die…Laughing’. It will be a great night’s craic.”

The commercial director at CCFC, Anthony O’Sullivan, said; “We’re really excited about the comedy night and I would like to thank Andrew, and all of the other comedians, for supporting us in this special fundraiser.”

Tickets for the event are €35 and available to purchase online via the Everyman website.
