Met Éireann has issued a status orange rain alert for Cork and Waterford.

The forecaster is warning that heavy rain could lead to some flooding as well as creating dangerous driving conditions.

The warning comes into effect at noon on Sunday and will stay in place until midnight that night.

It will be preceded by a yellow rain warning coming into effect in Cork at midnight on Saturday.

Overall, it looks like the weather will be mixed over the coming days.

Met Éireann says Saturday will be cold with some isolated showers, but these will become widespread come Sunday.
