Aldi’s Skibbereen store has reopened its doors to customers today following an extensive renovation project investment of over €1.2m which has seen the store interior completely refurbished.

The full makeover was completed in line with Aldi’s award-winning 'Project Fresh' design.

Last year, the retail giant invested €7.2m in upgrading six of its stores throughout Ireland with the launch of Project Fresh Enhanced, which introduced new units in-store such as fresh herbs, bread and cake and health and beauty.

The retailer has begun the installation of self-service checkouts at select stores, including the updated Skibbereen store which will also receive a CO2 upgrade, meaning there will be more environmentally friendly refrigerants in store.

Speaking at the reopening, James Brereton, Aldi Skibbereen Store Manager said, “The Project Fresh revamp of our store is fantastic news for our local customers.

“The new spacious design makes for a very enjoyable shop and customers can easily find everything they need with convenient store opening hours. We are also thrilled to take part in the trial of Aldi's new self-checkouts."
