Permission sought to develop homes at old wastewater treatment plant in Cork village

An application had already been submitted by Headwinds Investment Ltd for the demolition of the site at the beginning of last month, but was returned as invalid due to the lack of a completed exemption certificate application.

Plans for two new homes on the site of the old wastewater treatment plant in Crosshaven have been submitted to Cork County Council.

Headwinds Investment Ltd submitted a planning application with the local authority for permission to disconnect and demolish the existing decommissioned wastewater treatment plant and construct two new houses.

The plans are also seeking to construct a new shared entrance for the homes, and the realignment of the existing foul and storm sewers through the site and all associated site works.

The site of the old wastewater treatment plant is located in the Woodfield Estate in Knocknagore, which is situated off the R612.

Homes recently sold within the estate, between the years of 2019 and 2021, ranged from €438,000 to €500,000.

An application had already been submitted by Headwinds Investment Ltd for the demolition of the site at the beginning of last month, but was returned as invalid due to the lack of a completed exemption certificate application.

Exemption

The exemption certificate application, if granted, means that the company will not need to adhere to the requirement to transfer lands to the local authority for social housing.

Cork County Council is due to make a decision on the updated application by the start of November.
