TWO young drivers were detected travelling at more than 60km/ph above the speed limit on a busy Cork road.

TWO young drivers were detected travelling at more than 60km/ph above the speed limit on a busy Cork road.

The incidents, which occurred last Friday, took place along the N20 Cork to Mallow road.

The first incident, which involved an 18-year-old novice driver, saw the motorist travelling at a speed of 160km/ph in a 100km/ph zone.

The second incident, which involved another 18-year-old motorist, who held a learner’s permit, saw the driver travelling at a speed of 161km/ph in a 100km/ph zone.

The learner’s vehicle was seized by An Garda Síochána, with both offenders due to appear in court in the near future.

These detections were conducted by the Mallow Roads Policing Unit as part of routine patrol operations.
