Cork mother on the 'impossible' hunt to secure Taylor Swift tickets for super-fan daughter

“She’s never once asked us for anything, and I really want to do this for her," Natalie Bruton said.

A Cork mother is on the “impossible” hunt for two Taylor Swift concert tickets.

Natalie Bruton (34) from Cobh is pleading with Irish people to help her secure two concert tickets for Taylor Swift’s European leg of the Era’s Tour.

Ms Bruton’s daughter, Amelia (12), is nothing short of a super-fan, who spends “morning, noon and night” listening to countless hours of Taylor’s music.

With only nine days to go until Taylor’s first showing in Dublin, Ms Bruton is sharing daily countdown videos of her daughter online in the hopes of catching the attention of someone with ‘Swiftie’ connections.

“The whole of Cobh is rooting for her,” said Ms Bruton. “She’s such a quirky kid.”

“She’s never once asked us for anything, and I really want to do this for her.”

The Bruton family have been on this search since last summer, when the tickets first went on sale, and have encountered several roadblocks when it comes to trusting online sellers.

“The day they released the window to apply for a code to get the tickets, I had applied within two hours,” said Ms Bruton. “But we never got one.” “I’ve been through so many scammers since. There’s so many out there, it’s madness,” she added.

From listening to Taylor Swift on dial-up broadband, to watching her tour on Disney+, Amelia is not the only fan of Taylor’s music in the Bruton household.

“I started listening to Taylor when I was sixteen,” said Ms Bruton. “So she gets it from me.

“I even have videos of her singing Taylor’s 'Blank Space' in the back of the car at two years old.”

In true Era’s Tour fashion, where most concert goers design their own outfit to match an album produced by the singer, Amelia has already designed her very own concert couture.

“She’s so invested, she has her outfit picked out but she hasn’t started making it because she doesn’t want to get her hopes up.

“I just really want to give her this experience, to be in that atmosphere, where she’s surrounded by likeminded people who love the same thing as her.

“Worst case scenario we’ll go up and listen from outside.”

Ms Bruton is willing to pay up to €2,000 for two tickets, for any date or even location within a reasonable distance.

Having searched for tickets for shows as far as Madrid, Ms Bruton describes her current situation as “desperate”, having already pleaded for people's help today on Cork’s RedFM.

“This isn't going to happen again, it’s never going to be the same as the Era’s Tour.

“It would be a once in a lifetime thing for her.”
