More rain on the way tonight, Met Éireann says

With more rain on the way, people in Cork shouldn’t trade the brollies for parasols just yet.
THURSDAY morning’s rain may have cleared, but there’s a lot more on the way, so people in Cork shouldn’t trade the brollies for parasols just yet.
Met Éireann says that as the day progresses, the rain will mostly clear with scattered showers and a few bright spells following, making it a breezy day with moderate to fresh and occasionally gusty southerly winds, veering westerly and easing later in the day.
At its warmest, the day should see temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees.
Some clear spells will develop tonight but then widespread showers, some heavy, will spread from the west overnight, the national weather service predicts.
Tonight will see lows of 6 to 10 degrees with mostly light to moderate west to southwest winds, although winds will be a little fresher for a time in western coastal parts.
The pollen forecast is moderate on Thursday and Friday, and the solar UV index will be low to moderate on Thursday and moderate on Friday.
Friday will bring sunshine and frequent showers, some of them heavy, with a chance of hail and isolated thunderstorms, while later in the afternoon, cloud and outbreaks of rain will spread from the west.
Highs of 13 to 17 degrees with mostly light to moderate west to southwest winds, increasing fresh to strong and occasionally gusty in western coastal parts later.
Nationally, with low pressure dominating, the weather is expected to continue generally mixed and changeable for the weekend with showers or longer spells of rain at times in places, some of it heavy. Expect some dry spells too, with sunshine and it should become drier for a time early next week.
While Saturday will bring some bright or sunny spells at times in places, there’ll be further showers or longer spells, again some of it heavy, with a chance of thunder.
Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 or 18 degrees in mostly light to moderate variable winds, though westerly winds will be fresh, occasionally strong and gusty, for a time in the west and southwest, strongest in coastal parts.
Expect further showers early on Saturday night, but Met Éireann predicts they will tend to die away and it’ll become dry in most places with long clear spells developing.
Some mist and fog patches are likely though and it’ll become cloudy in parts of the north and northwest with showery rain moving in there.
Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees, with winds decreasing mostly light westerly.
It looks like Sunday will bring a mix of weather across the country.
It’ll most likely be cloudy across the northern half of the country with outbreaks of showery rain, some of it heavy, while it should be brighter further south with sunshine, but some showers are expected too. Highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees, warmest in the sunshine in the south, in mostly light to moderate westerly winds.
Monday will bring a mix of cloud and sunshine and with good dry spells, but there'll be further scattered showers too. Highest temperatures once again of 14 to 19 degrees in mostly moderate northwest winds.
Tuesday looks set to be a mainly dry day with some sunshine. There’ll just be a few isolated showers around. Highest temperatures of 13 to 18 degrees in mostly moderate northwest winds.
There’s some uncertainty from midweek and while there may be some good dry spells on Wednesday, it’s likely to become more unsettled again for the latter half of the week.
