REGISTRATION has opened for The Echo Women’s Mini Marathon.

Now in its 43rd year, the event is hosted by Cork Athletics.

It raises approximately €1.5m for charities each year, and is one of Cork city’s best-loved sporting and social events.

John Quigley of Cork Athletics said the 5km event will start on Kennedy Quay at noon on Sunday, September 22, and will follow the same route as last year.

“We’re hoping to see between 4,000 and 5,000 people participating, and we’re planning on having some music along the route to make this year extra-special,” he said.

The Echo is very proud of our long association with the mini marathon, which raises much-needed funds for great causes here in Cork and beyond,” said Elaine Duggan, The Echo deputy features editor and editor of WOW!

“We are delighted that registration is now open and we hope that the people of Cork will sign-up and turn out in their thousands again this year, for this wonderful event.

“We hope to see you at the start line!”
