Three people have been taken to hospital following an aggravated burglary in Cork. 

The incident happened on Millerd Street at approximately 6am. 

Gardaí said that three occupants in the house, two women and a man, were injured during the incident. 

"They were taken to Cork University Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment for injuries which are understood to be serious but not life-threatening," the garda spokesperson said. 

A sum of cash was also reported stolen.

A technical examination of the scene is due to place later this morning.

"No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing," gardaí said.
