The people of Cobh commemorated the 112th anniversary of the sinking of Titanic on Sunday 14th April 2024. Cobh held a public ceremony of remembrance for all who lost their lives in the Titanic disaster in 1912. The East Cork town, famously known as the final port of call for the ill-fated ship, honoured the memory of those who lost their lives when the Titanic sank on its maiden voyage to New York in 1912.

The reading out of the names of the passengers who boarded in Cobh on April 11, 1912, was part of a series of ceremonies to mark the visit of the White Star liner to the town.

The remembrance ceremony was preceded by a march to the town’s Titanic memorial by a colour party from the Cobh branch of the Irish Army Ex-Servicemen, while prayers were also said.
