Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium is hosting a fundraising information evening this Friday at 6.30pm.

The event affords a huge opportunity for local charities, schools and clubs to enhance their fundraising efforts in a simple and effective way. One of the highlights will be the chance to win a fully hosted fundraising night at Curraheen Park.

Special guest is Davy Russell, who won the Aintree Grand National twice aboard the iconic Tiger Roll.

GLITTERING

He also won the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2014 on Lord Windermere and rode two Grade One winners at the 2023 Aintree Festival before formally concluding his glittering career in the saddle.

Speaking of glitter, Russell was a very popular and successful contestant in the seventh series of Dancing with the Stars on RTÉ.

He is no stranger to fundraising as he co-founded the annual Hurling for Cancer Research match in 2011 alongside trainer Jim Bolger.

The celebrity event features jockeys, GAA stars, and sporting personalities, raising over €1.7 million to date for the Irish Cancer Society.

Attendees on Friday night will receive invaluable advice on practical, proven approaches to fundraising from Olivia Murphy, regional sales manager.

She will outline how tailored support and structured event planning can help groups to achieve productive results.

"We are really looking forward to welcoming local groups to Curraheen Park. Fundraising can often feel like a big challenge, but with the right support and approach, it can be straightforward, enjoyable, and very successful.

"This evening is about sharing that knowledge and giving something back to the community.”

Guests will be greeted at Curraheen Park with refreshments on arrival and invited to stay on to enjoy an evening of greyhound racing in the aftermath of the fundraising presentation.

Representatives from the Irish Retired Greyhound Trust will also be present, with their popular canine ambassadors, offering attendees the chance to learn more about greyhound welfare and rehoming retired greyhounds.
