BUS Éireann has announced an open day for Cork-based female drivers to join workforce.

The Cork open day will be held at Capwell Garage on Summerhill South, and will be one of five recruiting events held nationally on March 24, between 10am and 3pm.

Guests will have the opportunity to engage with and hear from current female drivers and supervisors at Bus Éireann, who will be sharing their experiences of working in the industry.

Cork woman, campaign supporter, broadcaster and author, Anna Geary said: “I am delighted to support Bus Éireann with their driver recruitment campaign.

“I have met some inspiring drivers taking part and I would encourage anyone who thinks a career in bus driving might be for them, to get down to their local open days.”

“The team at Bus Éireann will be there to answer all your questions and who knows, it could be your best move!”

As part of their Inclusive Recruitment Strategy, Bus Éireann are targeting an increase of at least 10% representation of female drivers and supervisors by 2030.

As well as offering drivers a permanent position with a competitive salary, benefits of the role also include a 39-hour working week, pension, GP scheme, travel scheme and recognition awards for those with long service and safe driving records.

Bus Éireann also established a training programme for B licence holders to convert them to D licences, giving applicants every opportunity to succeed on the road ahead in their new career.

Further information is available on the careers section of the Bus Éireann website.
