CORK CITY FC has launched a new weekly podcast ahead of its 2024 football season.

The Rebel Army Podcast — hosted by Cork City FC marketing consultant Stephen Ryan, alongside Cork City FC marketing executive Aaron Howey — will provide fans with full insights into the club, including the senior men’s team, senior women’s team, the academy, and the amputee team.

Mr Howey will also host a weekly segment called ‘Howey Out & About’ where he will talk to players and coaches from all teams including new signing Niall Brookwell.

The special debut episode, which aired this week, features interviews with senior men’s team boss Tim Clancy as well as Brian O’Sullivan, founder of the senior men’s team sponsor Zeus Packaging.

In the episode, Mr Clancy spoke about the upcoming season, including the first match against Kerry, which took place last night at Turners Cross, as well as touching on his football career which includes a stint with Millwall in England, before moving to the Scottish Premiership and back to the League of Ireland.

“The fact that we never got to play in front of the fans this pre-season has been frustrating for us, so the lads have been down to Turners Cross to have a look around, which was important for those who haven’t played in the stadium yet,” he said.

“It will be a massive game, so I can’t wait, and [to] get the chance to experience the fans and the atmosphere from our side of the fence,” he said.

Mr Clancy also admitted to The Rebel Army Podcast hosts that this season will be a very competitive league, as a number of clubs have ‘upped their game’ after witnessing the success of Galway and Waterford last year.

“It’s going to be difficult, there are no easy games, but we just have to make sure that every single game we’re at it. I think we have enough talent in the squad, we just need to make sure that application and everything else is second nature, and if it is, I think we’ll be OK,” he added.

The Rebel Army Podcast is now available to listeners on Spotify and other platforms.
