WORKS by artists Fatti Burke and Shane O’Driscoll are currently on display in Mayfield as part of an innovative project which is bringing artworks to schools, community hubs, and healthcare settings across Ireland.

The works have been loaned to the Mayfield Community Training Centre by Cork’s Glucksman Gallery through the ‘Art Library’ which aims to give communities the opportunity to encounter original works of art and access inspiring educational materials that combined aim to enable them to engage with the relevant issues of society with, and through, art.

Nicola Sheehan, art tutor at Mayfield Community Training Centre, said that the works currently on display at the centre through the project are Equality by Fatti Burke and C.R.E.A.M by Shane O’Driscoll.

These, Ms Sheehan said, can be viewed by visitors to the centre and can also be viewed by appointment by calling 021 4504822.

These will be rotated with other works in the future.

Meanwhile, Eclat du Couleur, an exhibition of 10 paintings by local artist Jean Curtayne, is currently open at Mayfield Library.

The French title translates as “burst of colour”, an apt description of the rich splash they bring to the library’s walls, a library spokesperson said.

Ms Curtayne said the inspiration for her work is the natural environment.

“My passion for flowers, colour, and the way light moves and falls across the landscape and sea has always been with me since I was a child.”

Staff at the Mayfield Library said they are delighted to have the opportunity to exhibit Jean’s work. They are inviting other local artists to get in touch with a view to the possibility of similar collaborations.
