A 33-year-old Dublin man affirmed a signed guilty plea to a charge of having a €70,000 stash of cocaine in Knocknaheeny last year.

William Shine of Nutgrove Avenue, Churchtown, Dublin, affirmed the guilty plea at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge Helen Boyle was told that the accused was suffering from health problems and that probation and medical reports would be helpful in advance of sentencing.

Judge Boyle adjourned sentencing in the case until June 5 for that purpose.

The main charge admitted by the accused man is that he had cocaine with a street value exceeding €13,000 on March 12 2023 at Fota Lawn, Knocknaheeny.

The significance of the €13,000 threshold is that it allows for a minimum sentence of ten years unless there are exceptional circumstances.
