BARRY Collins' SuperValu Carrigaline has relaunched its store, marking a significant €3.5 million investment.

The store has also welcomed 30 new hires to its current team of 168 employees.

The extensive renovation project was a collaborative effort, with a special focus on supporting local businesses, having partnered with local contractor Walsh Construction and BCD Electrical for the undertaking.

Established in 1865 by a relative of store owner David Collins, the store has passed through five generations of the family and continues to trade at the centre of the town.

The store experienced its greatest expansion under the ownership of Mr Collins’ father Barry Collins who was a well-known figure in the town both in business and community.

Commenting on the launch of the new store, Mr Collins said: “We are delighted to be opening our new look store after significant investment and much hard work from the team.

“The new state-of-the-art store will be a shining example of the best that SuperValu has to offer and has been designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

“The relaunch signifies our dedication to local support and delivering an unmatched shopping experience.”

He added: “We believe in supporting our community by caring for our environment, so we are particularly proud of the dedicated eco-friendly technologies throughout the new store,” he said.

The relaunched store offers an array of new products and services including a state-of-the-art butcher counter and a full traditional bakery.
