TEMPERATURES in Cork fell as low as -5.8c overnight with the whole country under a low temperature warning issued by Met Eireann.

The lowest temperature in the country was recorded by the national forecaster at Moore Park in County Cork.

Met Eireann has warned of difficult driving conditions, issues for vulnerable people and animal welfare issues.

The warning expires at 11am today but cold conditions are set to continue. 

Traffic in Cork this morning was moving as normal but black ice has been reported in parts of the county.
