FUNDING to the tune of over €450,000 to support a range of projects in different areas of the county will make “a big difference” to local communities, a Cork TD has said.

Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North-West, Aindrias Moynihan, was commenting after confirmation that

funding has been allocated to 11 projects in Cork under the 2023 CLÁR programme.

“The €455,889 announced this morning in funding under the CLÁR programme and the Government’s policy for rural Ireland, Our Rural Future, will make such a big difference in our local communities here in Cork,” said Mr Moynihan yesterday.

“The funding will go towards a variety of projects locally.

“This includes €48,112 for roof repairs at Millstreet Community Hall, €43,200 for redevelopment of Inchigeela Community Island Park, €28,800 for Ballineen & Enniskeane Development Association for the renewal of playground equipment and €14,097 for a nature trail at Muinefliuch Family Forest Nature Trail.

“I am delighted that these projects have received this funding, and I know they will be welcomed by everybody in our community.

“Local groups are doing huge work on the ground, and these essential funds will help to improve amenities in our communities.”

The €455,889 funding has been allocated to Cork as part of a further €6.2m allocation under the programme to 152 projects nationwide.

CLÁR funds small-scale projects in rural areas that have experienced significant levels of population decline.

Areas targeted under the CLÁR Programme are parts of counties Cork, Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Donegal, Galway, Kerry, Kilkenny, Laois, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, and Waterford, Westmeath, Wicklow, and all of Co Leitrim.
