Gardaí in Bandon appeal for information following theft of lorry

Gardaí in Bandon are continuing to investigate all the circumstances of a theft of a lorry and other related incidents that occurred on the morning of Wednesday November 8, 2023 in County Cork.
The man in his 30s arrested as part of this investigation is still being detained at a garda station in County Cork under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
As part of this investigation, gardaí are appealing to any persons who may have observed a white DAF rigid truck in the following areas at the following times to contact them:
- N71, The Pike, Clonakilty to Bandon, 8/11/23, 7am to 8am
- N71 - Bandon towards Cork City, 08/11/23, 10:10am to 11am
- R613 Ballinhassig village towards Fivemilebridge, Cork, 08/11/23, 10:10am to 11am
- Fivemilebridge up Black Hill, along the back Airport Road towards Lehenaghmore, 08/11/23, 10:10am to 11am
- Lehenaghmore & Forge Hill, Togher, Cork, 08/11/23, 10:20am to 11am
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in any of these areas at these times are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

Yesterday, gardaí issued a statement which said the truck was reported stolen from Bandon on Tuesday night, and was found on Wednesday morning in Togher, leading to an area being cordoned off and a shot being discharged from a Garda firearm.
A spokesperson from An Garda Síochána said: "Two Garda vehicles were damaged in the course of this operation”, but added: “No injuries were reported."
“A shot was discharged from a Garda firearm during this incident and as a result, GSOC have been notified of the incident."
They concluded: “Investigations are ongoing at this time.”
