AN TAISCE is encouraging people in Cork to apply to become a climate ambassador before October 31.

Those who want to take meaningful action and make positive changes, with full support from climate action officers and a national network of inspiring individuals, are encouraged to apply.

Ireland’s Climate Change Action and Awareness Programme was developed by the Environmental Education Unit (EEU) of An Taisce and supported by the Department of Environment, Climate, and Communications since 2017.

The EEU has developed many prestigious national programmes, such as Clean Coasts and Climate Ambassador, and supports that facilitates behavioural change and best-practice environmental action, with over 90 highly skilled and dedicated staff working with approximately 1.4m students, teachers, ambassadors, volunteers, and community groups, annually across Ireland, for over 30 years.

Climate action manager Gráinne Ryan said An Taisce has already received some excellent applications from Bandon Grammar School, Cork ETB, UCC, and Cork College of FET.

“We can also see ambassador applications flying in from Ballinlough and Carrigaline, a couple from PwC and Rowing Ireland — but we’d love to see more communities, clubs and businesses in Cork represented this year,” Mr Ryan added.

Applications for 2024 will close at midnight on Tuesday, October 31.
