A group of goats that were reported loose eastbound on the N40 countless times over the last seven months are now in the care of the CSPCA (Cork Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).

The team at Cork Safety alerts revealed they have been receiving reports of the four goats near the new Vernon Mount Bridge since April 2023.

Dubbed 'The N40 Goats', they became well known due to how frequently Cork Safety Alerts sent out a warning about them, with many concerned for their wellbeing and others frustrated over the danger they posed to motorists.

At the beginning of October, the N40 Goats were successfully captured by William Walsh, a Goat Herder from 'Billy's Rent a Goat'.

Currently, the goats are under the care of the CSPCA, who shared a picture of them on Facebook on Saturday, October 21, writing: "Some of you might recognize this gang.

“They are the infamous N40 goats. All four are doing well, and they will soon be heading to their new homes once their veterinary work is complete.”
