Man who stole clothes from Cork store avoids jail

A nine-month suspended jail term was imposed on a 37-year-old man who was caught stealing clothes at Blarney Woollen Mills.
Richard O’Meara of 31 Dunard, Lotamore, Cork, pleaded guilty to the shoplifting offence at Cork District Court.
He was charged by Detective Garda Maurice Leahy with carrying out the offence on October 22, 2021.
Sergeant John Kelleher said that Mr O’Meara stole three items of clothing valued €109.
Judge Olann Kelleher was told that the defendant went into treatment since this occurred almost two years ago.
He had 13 previous theft convictions out of his total of 69 counts.
