Erin’s Own will wait to make a call on the fitness of centre-back Oran O’Regan ahead of Sunday’s Co-op SuperStores SAHC final against Carrigtwohill at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh (4pm).

The former Cork U20 player was forced off early in the second half of the Caherlag side’s semi-final win over Watergrasshill three and a half weeks ago and has been rehabilitating since but his ability to line out in the local-derby decider remains in doubt.

“Yeah, it's kind of still up in the air,” said Erin’s Own manager Brendan O’Riordan.

“Colm Coakley [physio] is looking after him and Colm is with him a lot. We're going to leave it leave it as long as possible before we make a call and to give him as much time as possible, but it'll be touch and go, really.

“It was a hamstring injury and one of those ones whereby he might think he's okay and it's hard to know.

“We'll have to take an educated guess on it closer to the weekend and give him every chance possible.”

Meanwhile, Carrigtwohill are reporting a clean bill of health, bar attacker Seán Walsh, who was ruled out of the entire championship following a cruciate ligament injury in the summer

Midfielder Jay Horgan had to retire injured in the superb semi-final win over Blarney but the fact that there is a four-week gap between that game and Sunday has afforded time for the injury list to clear up.

“We're fine, thankfully,” said Carrig manager Denis Walsh.

“Everyone that started the last day and was involved the last day is available again, so from that point of view the four-week break was no harm because for a couple of weeks we had a few fellas who just needed a bit of recovery time.

“They had that and we’re fine, just apart from the obvious one in Seán.”
